Joke Dijkstra is a seasoned lawyer and an expert at managing large scale government transformation projects. After working 19 years for the Dutch Ministry of Justice, she co-founded De Vries Africa Ventures, a management consulting firm on Business in Africa. Next to her day-to-day activities in the company, Joke studies Human Rights Law at the University of London.
At the Dutch Ministry of Justice Joke worked in different roles for the Prosecution Office and the Courts at different locations in The Netherlands. In these roles she was responsible for providing expert legal advise. In later roles Joke focused more on the managerial aspects of the legal profession. As Operational Manager of the court of Rotterdam she was responsible for defining and coordinating the complex planning of all court sessions of the second largest court houses in The Netherlands. In other roles, Joke leveraged her broad knowledge and experience of the legal processes and organization in the 2 largest organizational change projects of the Ministry of Justice in recent history: the restructuring of the country-wide Prosecution organization and the country-wide restructuring of the Dutch court structure. In both transformation projects she fulfilled key positions as Program Clerk and Program Manager. In her early career Joke worked on Asylum Matters at the Department of Immigration.
Joke holds Masters degrees in Criminal Law and Public Law from the University of Groningen.
Originally from The Netherlands, Joke lives together with her husband and daughter in Nairobi, Kenya.
